Laboratory for Neurogenic Communication
DisordersThe Aphasia Group
The aphasia group meets Mondays from 1-3 p.m. at the University of Connecticut Speech and Hearing Clinic in the David C. Phillips Communication Sciences Building on the Storrs campus. Participants are involved in a variety of individualized interventions with the goal of facilitating language expression and comprehension. Individual sessions are followed by an hour of group activities. The philosophy of UConn’s aphasia group is based upon the “Life Participation Approach to Aphasia” as delineated by Chapey and colleagues (2001).
If you or someone you know would be interested in taking part in the aphasia group, please contact Dr. Carl Coelho at 486-4482.
