Speech Science Laboratory
Located in the David C. Phillips Building, the Speech Science
Laboratory is directed by Dr. Harvey Gilbert. The laboratory is
designed for students interested in the acoustic, aerodynamic, and
physiologic investigation of normal and disordered speech and voice
(children & adults). The laboratory facilities include and IAC
single walled sound booth for subject testing, two CSL workstations,
Laryngograph processor, Voice Range profiling, Rothenberg aerodynamic
system, and a nasometer.
Recent/Current Student Projects:
- Irena Vincent -- Smoking effects on acoustic, physiologic, and
aerodynamic voice measures.
- Hiroko Nakamura -- A comparison of speaking fundamental frequency
measures between Japanese and American hearing impaired children.
- Kirsten Lin -- Tone acquisition in Mandarin speaking children.
